The Gaslamp
A concrete-and-steel residential development at 910 28th Street with durable, design-led interiors.
Opportunistic yields, but with asymmetry of risk and reward.
Founded by Daniel H. Otis, Brickstone has grown into a private equity real estate firm backed by some of the largest family offices and institutions in the world — while staying deliberately small, senior, and aligned.
Our word is our bond. We hold ourselves to the highest standard in every partnership, every report, and every decision — trust earned over decades is the firm's most valuable asset.
We underwrite to downside protection before upside. Every position is structured so the balance of risk and reward favors our investors.
A small number of unique commercial assets, each held with intent. We would rather pass than dilute the thesis.
We treat our investors' capital as we treat our own — patiently, transparently, and for the long term.
Opportunistic yields with less risk than typical. Our process is deliberately narrow.
We pursue a small number of unique commercial assets in supply-constrained markets — situations where our local knowledge and relationships create access others do not have.
Every position is underwritten to its downside first. We structure capital — fixed-rate, low-leverage, with reserves — so the balance of risk and reward favors our investors before any upside is counted.
We add value through disciplined leasing, targeted capital programs, and design-led repositioning — not financial engineering or reliance on cap-rate compression.
We hold with intent, recapitalize when it serves investors, and exit when the thesis is realized — patiently, transparently, and with full alignment.

Brickstone is led by a small, senior team that has invested together through cycles — aligning conviction with discipline and discretion.
Dan founded Brickstone in 2001 at age 20 while in college, redeveloping student housing around his alma mater; the firm has since been involved in roughly $2 billion of multifamily, student housing, retail and office investment and development. His thesis — an asymmetry of risk and reward, opportunistic yield with less risk than normal — has attracted capital from some of the largest family offices and institutions in the world. A U.S. Air Force veteran and former Division I pole vaulter, Dan is an accomplished aviator — flying both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters — and has played piano for more than 35 years. First and foremost he is a family man, married more than 15 years, with four children.
More than 20 years of senior finance leadership across real estate platforms, private equity and multi-entity capital structures. Previously CFO of a Nashville family office and a senior finance leader at Landmark Properties, overseeing reporting across a $7B+ student-housing portfolio. MBA & BBA, Mercer University; licensed CPA.
Founder of STUDIO Development Services and a licensed architect with 25+ years of design and delivery experience — 1.5M+ SF of construction and 500+ residences delivered. M.Arch, CU Boulder (first in class); ULI, AIA, NCARB; City of Boulder Design Advisory Board.
Jason is President of House of Wilson, where he manages the family office of the Wilson family — founders of lululemon — overseeing the family's investments, tax, legal, accounting, governance, and the Wilson 5 Foundation. He serves on the boards of Stonebridge Companies, Low Tide Properties, SOLVE FSHD, and Brickstone Properties, and previously was President & Chief Investment Officer of Copford Capital Management, a prominent Denver single-family office. With over 15 years in the family-office sector, he is a member of YPO and an active participant in the YPO Family Office Principals Group.
